Friends
So when does a mother NOT get to pick her sons friends? I mean so far Xander has played with whoever is around him, and really, I've pretty much had control over who is around. ish. I remember my mom asking why I wouldn't hang out with this person or that person and I was like "eww, mom!" But I'm pretty sure I'd made it to the tween era by then. All that to say....yesterday, Xander was playing with some friends outside. Some were in the sandbox, I don't know I think there were like 5 kids here at that point, not unusual, and Xander wanted to play hockey. So he asked Sarah to play hockey with him and she did. Read then decided that maybe HE should be playing INSTEAD of Sarah so he stole her hockey stick. I kid you not, as soon as Read took the stick, Xander picked up the ball and ran behind a lilac bush refusung to play until Sarah had the stick back. I tried to tell him he had to be nice and play with everyone, but he totally would not play with Read! And if Xander was 12 I swear he would have been like "mo-om!" But instead he just shook his head at me when I asked him why he wouldn't play with his friend. I don't know, maybe he's gonna be totally independant! Ahh!

In all fairness to Xander, I think he was sticking up for Sarah!(sorry about the pun)It was the gentleman'ly thing to do,and shows he understands when others are being treated unfairly, which is a good thing:)
