Night-time Funny
So tonight I put Xander to bed at 8pm and said he needed to get a good sleep so he could be a good boy at school tomorrow. When Marvin came home from work at 9:30 Xander was calling, so Marvin went up. he told Marvin that he'd had a good sleep and he was ready to go to school now. So cute. :)
First Day of School!
So I know that it's PRE-school, but it was still traumatic for me! I dropped Xander off at the Oxford Elementary School! That's school right? Sure I picked him up two and a half hours later, but I still left the grounds in the in-between time! Yeah, well enough about me then.
Xander loves school! He had a fabulous time. He told me ALL of his friends were there and he brought papers home. He was really proud of the papers. The papers were 4, FOUR book orders. Not one, but four! When we were leaving the school building he was all frowny-like, so I asked him what was wrong and he said that he wished we were going back to the school instead of back home. So hopefully when I drop him off again tomorrow, and every Monday, Wednesday and Friday for the rest of the year he will be equally excited!
Now I wasn't the first or the last parent dropping Xander off, but I was the first there to pick him up. I don't really think it's THAT indicative about anything. I'm fine. Really. I am. :)

SeaDOO!
So today was Xander's first experience with a SeaDoo (Jet Ski for our Western friends). First he watched Uncle Ben drive around solo. He thought that was okay, but was sort of worried about how far he was going because his truck was right "over there." Then he watched Uncle Ben drag Mommy around on a tube. Which I'm sure looked more entertaining from the shore! Note to self...Don't wear too-big board shorts when being dragged around a lake! Then he watched Daddy's slightly more successful trips back and forth and around and up and down. At that point he figured he was ready, so Marvin sat in the tube and had Xander sitting on his lap and they took off! He loved it. And I mean Lo-ov-ved it! Marvin's abs are going to pay for the time tomorrow! Then Uncle Ben unhooked the tube and took Xander for a quick trip around the lake. He did not want to come home, but I'm hoping for a good sleep for all tonight! Goodnight!

Soccer Game
So when we were at soccer on Thursday, Xander's coach announced to the team that they were going on a bus to play a REAL soccer game! After getting over the intial scare that this was not going to happen immediately, the rest of the parents and I started asking questions. So the rumour is, on August 6th Xander will get to go on a school bus (accompanied by at least mommy) for the first time and drive all the way to the booming metropolis of River Hebert to play a "real" soccer game against the other kids there. Xander wants to be "goaler."

Funniest Story Ever!
So this is the funniest story ever only because Xander is a minor character in it! If he was the main player...well, you'll see.
So we were all outside playing one day. There was Xander and Jenna (the little girl I babysit) and Fran and Finnan and Anna. Finnan was driving Fran nuts by peeing like every five minutes and so because he is a boy she told him to go pee in the bushes. Only the first time he peed like right there between Jenna and Fran almost getting them both with his 2 year old less-than-superb aim. The second time (2 1/2 mins later) after specifically directing him to a particular spot on a tree Finnan peed and then sort of bent over...and once you start....so after one turd landed on my lawn Fran picked her confused son up and carried him to the bathroom. The look on Jenna's face was completely fabulous. She looked so scandalized! And Xander just looked at me and said "Why am I not surprised?" I lost it! We have never said anything like that to Xander!
When finnan came back he told me a very detailed story about how his dog Benny poops outside. Then he gave me a high five. It was a great day.

Soccer Teamer!
At the beginning of July Xander started playing soccer. He is on a "team" of about 20-25 other 3 and 4 year olds. He's really enjoying it and making a lot of new friends and meeting up with some "old" friends that were in the baby group with us back in the day! He's a little dissapointed though. As a very atheletic 3 year old he apparently was expecting to play some World Cup-class soccer, and after the first 1/2 hour session of pass and tag said, "I thought we were going to play soccer!"
This is him explaining to his coach all his skills.
Big Boy Bed
So they say when scrapbooking, you should start at present, then work back rather than starting back and trying to catch up. I'm going to try the same thing here. Xander has done a lot of weird things in the last month, but I'll start with the most recent!
We finally moved him into a big boy bed. The crib we bought 3 1/2 years ago turned into a day bed and that is what Xander has been sleeping in, but he is now too long! He kept hitting his head! So now he's in a double bed and looks like a baby all over again! And now that he's got more room in bed, he's using it! I've found him turned around, in all four corners and this morning his head was on the little table beside his bed while the rest of his body was still in bed!

Bye-Bye to Kitty
So we had to put our almost 16 year old cat down on Tuesday. When Xander was going down for a nap I knew that Frisco would be on his way to the Vet by the time he woke up, so I made sure Xander said good night to the Kitty. When he woke up I asked him if he remembered that the kitty was sick when he went for his nap and he said "yes." So I told him that kitty died. Xander said "Oh....ok.......Can we get a puppy?" So apparently he's very resiliant. When I called Marvin at work to tell him what Xander said, Marvin was like "You told him no right?" Silly man. Yes. Let's go get a puppy RIGHT NOW! But I'll have to be careful the next time we go visit Nan and Pop because we could end up coming home with a couple bunnies and a cow or something.

Sick Sleeping
Xander has a bit of a cold and he has started to show some Uncle-Dan-like sleeping-while-sick tendancies. :) Such as talking while sleeping and hallucinating. I'm just waiting for the sleep-walking to start. I was actually worried about it all last night, but all Xander did last night was talk in his sleep. Well, yell in his sleep. 2am or so he says "POP AND NAN! Pop and Nan! I love Nan and Pop. I love them SOOOO much. I really love Nan and pop." Then he went back to silent sleeping. I thought it was super cute. :)

Friends
So when does a mother NOT get to pick her sons friends? I mean so far Xander has played with whoever is around him, and really, I've pretty much had control over who is around. ish. I remember my mom asking why I wouldn't hang out with this person or that person and I was like "eww, mom!" But I'm pretty sure I'd made it to the tween era by then. All that to say....yesterday, Xander was playing with some friends outside. Some were in the sandbox, I don't know I think there were like 5 kids here at that point, not unusual, and Xander wanted to play hockey. So he asked Sarah to play hockey with him and she did. Read then decided that maybe HE should be playing INSTEAD of Sarah so he stole her hockey stick. I kid you not, as soon as Read took the stick, Xander picked up the ball and ran behind a lilac bush refusung to play until Sarah had the stick back. I tried to tell him he had to be nice and play with everyone, but he totally would not play with Read! And if Xander was 12 I swear he would have been like "mo-om!" But instead he just shook his head at me when I asked him why he wouldn't play with his friend. I don't know, maybe he's gonna be totally independant! Ahh!

Showering!
Xander has discovered the shower! He hasn't had a bath in weeks! But he's still 20 minutes in there or more. I still help him with his hair, but other than that he tells me to leave him alone becuz he isn't done yet! The first couple of times he borrowed Daddy's Old Spice soap, but we've finally moved all his stuff down to the shower! It's going to make the summer a lot easier for me! You should see how dirty this kid gets out in the sandbox! Crazy!

On second thought, it also might be a random rant blog. Like why didn't I get a paper this morning!? Oh well. I'll be careful about what I rant about for sure!
So Xander's been dressing himself for a little while. Sometimes are better than others, today is a hit! He has a few people in his life who are forcing their hockey faves on him and somehow today he is a Canadiens fan. I don't even know how that happened but he is super excited to have a hockey shirt and even though it's a balmy 25 degrees out he keeps showing off his hockey moves with sound effects! It's great. Our son is an athlete.
