Bye-Bye to Kitty

So we had to put our almost 16 year old cat down on Tuesday. When Xander was going down for a nap I knew that Frisco would be on his way to the Vet by the time he woke up, so I made sure Xander said good night to the Kitty. When he woke up I asked him if he remembered that the kitty was sick when he went for his nap and he said "yes." So I told him that kitty died. Xander said "Oh....ok.......Can we get a puppy?" So apparently he's very resiliant. When I called Marvin at work to tell him what Xander said, Marvin was like "You told him no right?" Silly man. Yes. Let's go get a puppy RIGHT NOW! But I'll have to be careful the next time we go visit Nan and Pop because we could end up coming home with a couple bunnies and a cow or something.

Sick Sleeping

Xander has a bit of a cold and he has started to show some Uncle-Dan-like sleeping-while-sick tendancies. :) Such as talking while sleeping and hallucinating. I'm just waiting for the sleep-walking to start. I was actually worried about it all last night, but all Xander did last night was talk in his sleep. Well, yell in his sleep. 2am or so he says "POP AND NAN! Pop and Nan! I love Nan and Pop. I love them SOOOO much. I really love Nan and pop." Then he went back to silent sleeping. I thought it was super cute. :)

Friends

So when does a mother NOT get to pick her sons friends? I mean so far Xander has played with whoever is around him, and really, I've pretty much had control over who is around. ish. I remember my mom asking why I wouldn't hang out with this person or that person and I was like "eww, mom!" But I'm pretty sure I'd made it to the tween era by then. All that to say....yesterday, Xander was playing with some friends outside. Some were in the sandbox, I don't know I think there were like 5 kids here at that point, not unusual, and Xander wanted to play hockey. So he asked Sarah to play hockey with him and she did. Read then decided that maybe HE should be playing INSTEAD of Sarah so he stole her hockey stick. I kid you not, as soon as Read took the stick, Xander picked up the ball and ran behind a lilac bush refusung to play until Sarah had the stick back. I tried to tell him he had to be nice and play with everyone, but he totally would not play with Read! And if Xander was 12 I swear he would have been like "mo-om!" But instead he just shook his head at me when I asked him why he wouldn't play with his friend. I don't know, maybe he's gonna be totally independant! Ahh!

Showering!

Xander has discovered the shower! He hasn't had a bath in weeks! But he's still 20 minutes in there or more. I still help him with his hair, but other than that he tells me to leave him alone becuz he isn't done yet! The first couple of times he borrowed Daddy's Old Spice soap, but we've finally moved all his stuff down to the shower! It's going to make the summer a lot easier for me! You should see how dirty this kid gets out in the sandbox! Crazy!

Ok. Funny story. Fran is over this morning with Finan and Anna, and she was nursing Anna in the living room. Jenna asked her what she was doing and Fran explained she was feeding Anna. Xander asked "Is she eating you like a squirrel eat nuts?" Hahahaha! So funny.
On second thought, it also might be a random rant blog. Like why didn't I get a paper this morning!? Oh well. I'll be careful about what I rant about for sure!

So Xander's been dressing himself for a little while. Sometimes are better than others, today is a hit! He has a few people in his life who are forcing their hockey faves on him and somehow today he is a Canadiens fan. I don't even know how that happened but he is super excited to have a hockey shirt and even though it's a balmy 25 degrees out he keeps showing off his hockey moves with sound effects! It's great. Our son is an athlete.

This is a blog mostly for Xander's family spread out all over Canada. I will try to find some funny stories and pics to put up here. He's quite a ham, so it shouldn't be too hard.
